ET joins interview panel at Heathcotes Humberston!
Heathcotes believe that it is paramount that individuals are at the centre of their care. It often gives a sense of agency and inclusion which can be empowering and inspiring. Heathcotes’ new Humberston services applied that approach to recruitment when they invited service user ET to help out with interviewing candidates applying for Support Worker roles.
Team Leaders, Mel Cole and Wendy Plastow, have been conducting a series of interviews in recent weeks and they asked ET to join in the process. He has really embraced the opportunity and has provided some very valuable input. ET wrote his own questions to ask each candidate and has been offering his post-interview opinions on their qualities and potential as a Support Worker. ET has been involved with over 20 interviews in total and will continue to be part of Humberston’s panel for many more. The staff at Humberston will be giving ET official recognition of his new role with a job title badge produced at Head Office!
Service Manager, Kirsty Isted, said:
“As a new service we have been very busy with recruitment and inviting ET to participate has proved to be a brilliant idea. It’s great to get a service user’s perspective and we don’t feel as though we have a full assessment of any given candidate until we’ve heard ET’s opinion!”
Heathcotes Humberston is a specialist residential service for adults with learning disabilities who may have dual diagnoses and associated complex needs. Alongside the full-time residential care service there are four self-contained supported living apartments designed to help individuals to further their independence in a more independent setting. Alternatively, these could be utilised as a single person service for those individuals who may not be able to live with others.
