Heathcotes Alverthorpe is a specialist residential service for adults with a Learning Disability who may have dual diagnoses and associated complex needs. Heathcotes Alverthorpe has 8 ensuite bedrooms and provides twenty four hour support.
The service provides two communal lounges and kitchen diner with access to a large garden area. There are ground floor bedrooms available and a shared bathroom in addition to the ensuite shower rooms. Heathcotes Alverthorpe has Wi-Fi throughout allowing service users to stay in touch with family and friends, access e learning and use the internet.
Heathcotes Alverthorpe also offers three self-contained apartments enabling service users to progress through their care pathway and further develop their independent living skills. The apartments are situated on the same site as our Alverthorpe and Flanshaw services but have their own separate entrance.
Heathcotes Alverthorpe is situated in a residential area in Wakefield and close to a wealth of community facilities including local shops, parks and sporting facilities. The service also enjoys easy access to Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Hepworth Gallery, Leeds city centre and the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats Rugby League stadium.
There are many opportunities for service users to develop new skills; Morley Academy is a short journey away and service users are encouraged to take part in the running of the household including budgeting and shopping.
The service has excellent transport links and is just a few minutes’ walk from the railway station. The M1 motorway is just a short drive away and the service is near to local bus routes to the surrounding areas.
