Heathcotes Hembrigg Park

Heathcotes Hembrigg Park is a specialist treatment centre that supports eight individuals with emotionally unstable personality disorders, who may also have a mild learning disability. Admissions to the service are time limited, for a period of 12 months. The aim is that following successful completion of treatment, individuals will move onto a more independent setting.
The service hasintensive psychological input from our Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Dr Peter Burbidge and Specialist Occupational Therapist, Cathy Conway who provide the full Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) programme. DBT is a multi-modal treatment consisting of weekly skills groups, weekly individual therapy, skills coaching between sessions, weekly peer supervision for the therapist and an element of structuring the environment to support the learning and using of the skills. The service aims to:
Reduce life threatening behaviours
Reduce behaviours that have a negative impact or could to lead to placement breakdown
Reduce hospital admissions
Improve quality of life through the development of meaningful relationships, increased independence and meaningful activities
Encourage individual goals and aspirations
Heathcotes Morley is situated in a residential area on the outskirts of Leeds and close to a wealth of community facilities. Service users can also enjoy the wide range of attractions that Leeds city centre has to offer. There are excellent transport links to Leeds city centre with the service being close to a main bus route as well as the M1 motorway.. There are many opportunities for service users to develop new skills; with access to local colleges with opportunities for further education.
The environment maintains a homely feel but remain robust and appropriate for the service user group. All 8 bedrooms rooms have ensuite bedrooms and the service provides twenty four hour support. The service has spacious communal lounges, kitchen and dining areas and outside space with a lawn area. There is a shared bathroom in addition to the ensuite shower rooms. Service users also have access to a quiet communal lounge where they can use a computer or enjoy watching films. There are a number of ground floor bedrooms available for disabled access and there is a shared bathroom in addition to ensuite shower rooms.
All staff are NAPPI (Non Abusive Physical and Psychological Interventions) trained, as well being specially trained in personality disorder with a view to minimising the level and frequency of challenging behaviour.
