Heathcotes Lutterworth View
- Learning Disabilities, Mental Illness, Challenging Behaviour
Heathcotes Lutterworth View is a specialist residential service for adults with a Learning Disability, mental illness and who may have challenging behaviours and associated complex needs.
The service has 8 en-suite bedrooms and provides twenty four hour support. All staff are NAPPI (Non Abusive Physical and Psychological Interventions) trained and use the NAPPI red and green scale to maintain positive influence on each service user, with a view to minimising the level and frequency of challenging behaviour. Service users may have spent long periods of time in a hospital setting or may have additional complex needs including sensory impairments and communication difficulties.
The service has two communal lounges, kitchen and dining areas and large outside space with a lawn area. There is a shared bathroom on the ground floor, as well as a shared bathroom upstairs in addition to the ensuite shower rooms. There are three downstairs rooms available for disabled access. Service users also have access to a quiet communal lounge where they can use a computer or enjoy watching films.
There are many opportunities for service users to develop new skills; Leicester College, Freemen’s Park Campus, is just a short distance away and service users are encouraged to take part in the running of the household including budgeting and shopping.
There are excellent transport links with the service being located on the main bus route into Leicester city centre and surrounding towns and the M1 motorway is just a short drive away.
