Heathcotes Taylor View is a specialist residential service for adults with a Learning Disability, mental illness and who may have dual diagnoses and associated complex needs.
The service has 5 en-suite bedrooms and provides twenty four hour support. All staff are NAPPI (Non Abusive Physical and Psychological Interventions) trained and use the NAPPI red and green scale to maintain positive influence on each service user, with a view to minimising the level and frequency of challenging behaviour. Service users may have spent long periods of time in a hospital setting or may have additional complex needs including sensory impairments and communication difficulties.
The service has communal lounges, kitchen and dining areas and large outside space with a lawn area. There is a shared bathroom on the ground floor, as well as a shared bathroom upstairs in addition to the ensuite shower rooms. There is one downstairs room available for disabled access. Service users also have access to a quiet communal lounge where they can use a computer or enjoy watching films.
Heathcotes Taylor View is situated in Hucknall and is close to a wealth of community facilities including local shops, leisure centres, pubs and a golf course. The service is very close to the Hucknall town centre and a fifteen minute bus journey from Nottingham.
There are many opportunities for service users to develop new skills; New College Nottingham is just a ten minute drive away and work placements are available with local community projects and include skills such as woodwork, cycle repair and gardening.
