- Learning Disabilities, Challenging Behaviour
Heathcotes Wistaston House is a specialist residential service for adults with a Learning Disability who may have dual diagnoses and associated complex needs.
The service has 7 en-suite bedrooms and provides twenty-four-hour support. The service has two communal lounges and a large conservatory. There is a shared and dining space and a large outside space with a garden area. There is a shared bathroom on the ground floor, in addition to the ensuite shower rooms. Service users also have access to a quiet communal lounge where they can use the computer or enjoy in-house activities.
All staff are NAPPI (Non Abusive Physical and Psychological Interventions) trained and use the NAPPI red and green scale to maintain positive influence on each service user, with a view to minimising the level and frequency of challenging behaviour. Service users may have spent long periods of time in a hospital setting or may have additional complex needs including sensory impairments and communication difficulties.
Heathcotes Wistaston is situated on Crewe Road and is close to a wealth of community facilities. Service users can also enjoy the wide range of attractions that Crewe has to offer such as Crewe Heritage centre, Queens Park as well as educational opportunities providing accessible courses and leisure facilities.
