Wendover House is a seven-bedroom detached home based on the outskirts of Aylesbury. Each room in the home is ensuite and spacious. The home has a large living room with a smart TV and large patio windows into the garden. There is a large open plan kitchen and dining room with a large dining table for 8 people. The dining room also has a large set of patio doors leading into the garden. There is a large fenced in garden that has a large paved area for sitting, a large lawn area, a large wooden cabin that functions as an office and a meeting room for service users to use for review meetings and care planning. There is a quiet end of the garden which will function as a sensory garden.
Within the home there is a small living room with a smart TV for people to have some quieter space and to have some space if they want it. There is a laundry room with 2 commercial washing machines and a tumble dryer. There is a large communal wet room/bathroom with a shower and toilet.
All staff are NAPPI (Non-Abusive Physical and Psychological Interventions) trained and use the NAPPI red and green scale to maintain positive influence on each service user, with a view to minimizing the level and frequency of challenging behavior. Service users may have spent long periods of time in a hospital setting or may have additional complex needs including sensory impairments and communication difficulties.
The home is based on the outskirts of Aylesbury and on the outskirts of the smaller town of Stoke Mandeville. It has great public transport connections which pass the home on a regular basis and serve local towns such as High Wycombe, Milton Keynes, Oxford, Amersham and Aylesbury town center. 5 minutes’ walk from the home is the Stoke Mandeville train station. This station serves central London (Marylebone), Amersham, Marlow, Aylesbury town center, High Wycombe.
The home is located a 5-minute drive from the town of Wendover and Wendover Woods. Wendover Woods has miles of country walks, coffee shop and several themed trails. Aylesbury town center has a cinema, bowling, go-carting, a large extensive library, a modern and large shopping center with top brand chain shops and numerous restaurants, cafes, pubs and eateries. There are several local pubs and garden centers, all within walking distance of the home, and accessible by footpath and car.
