The Learning Team
Tracy Mason our Operations Manager has overview of the L&D function as quality lead for Heathcotes, as recognition that Learning has a pivotal role in maintaining and improving quality within the company.
The Learning Team is led by Mick Murphy, Heathcotes Learning & Development Manager. Mick is a qualified and innovative learning and development professional, with over 25 years experience as a practitioner and manager within social care, the corporate sector and HM Forces. Mick has been instrumental in successfully delivering a number of projects throughout Heathcotes including our new starter induction; leadership and management development, training administration services as well as a wider portfolio of specialist training. He has also worked extensively with external stakeholders to add quality and depth to what Learning can deliver for Heathcotes.
Our Learning Administrator, Lucy Bingham, is based at Head Office in Chesterfield. An experienced training administration professional, she provides direct resource and organisational learning support to the training team itself and business stakeholders. Her main roles include booking courses, venues, handling enquiries, ordering resources, identifying capacity issues and managing our training database, a key business metric tool.
Supporting Mick and delivering high quality learning throughout the company are our 3 Learning and Development Officers:
Emerson Franklin is a skilled health and social care professional, with over 12 years experience. During his career he has supported adults and young people with mental health issues, challenging behaviour, learning disabilities and autism. Emerson is Heathcotes dedicated NAPPI trainer, and currently works with service managers and staff delivering a comprehensive programme of NAPPI courses and refresher workshops. Working alongside Heathcotes Behaviour Support Team, he also provides expert advice and support to services to develop and improve individual support, and implementation of Heathcotes restraint reduction policy.
Nilly Blagg. Nilly has recently joined the L&D team on secondment from a team leader role in Leicester. She brings a wealth of operational experience to this role, including a successful management career supporting ex-offenders and wide ranging commercial experience, as well as a volunteer youth worker.
Cheaviler (Chev) Douglas. Together with Nilly Blagg , Chev joins the L&D team on secondment from a team leader role in Nottinghamshire. To complement a solid background in social care, Chev has also enjoyed a varied and successful career as a youth development worker, security specialist, music artist and producer and Army physical training instructor. He is currently in his final year at Derby University studying Criminology.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Members of the Learning Team are committed to their own continuing professional development and all have an individual learning programme. All hold a formal learning qualification (DTLLS, PTLLS or equivalent) and qualified to deliver up to NAPPI Level 2; Emerson delivers training at NAPPI Level 3. Additionally, various members of the team have specialist qualifications, for example first aid, hoist training, autism awareness, mental health awareness and others.
