Race for Life!
In February Lindsey, who lives at Heathcotes Bridlington said she was interested in taking part in the ‘Race for Life’ and asked if staff member Gemma would do with it her, Gemma agreed and entered them both into the race. Gemma said “As the race is 5km we thought we would do a few ‘training sessions’ where we went for long walks in preparation for the race. On the day of the race we joined the thousands of other people on the cliff tops and took part in the warm up exercises before we set off”
Lindsey ran the race in memory of a family friend that sadly lost her battle with Cancer and Gemma did it in memory of a staff member’s mother that had recently passed away. “We completed the race in one hour twenty five minutes and then walked to the seafront and enjoyed some well-deserved fish and chips! All together we raised £350 for the charity!” said Gemma.
This was a massive achievement for Lindsey as she has lost a total of 6 stones in the last 4 years, Lindsey’s Father was so proud of Lindsey that he wrote to the Prader-Willi syndrome association and they printed an article about Lindsey’s involvement in the race in their magazine.
The race took place on the hottest day of the year which made it even more of a challenge, but they have both agreed to enter again, but they are both hoping it is a little bit cooler next time!
