On Wednesday 21st November, East Midlands Regional Manager Tracy Mason and Registered Manger of Heathcotes Aylestone Johann Deeming, took part in the Choice Unlimited Exhibition at the Leicester Tigers Stadium, hosted by Leicestershire Centre for Integrated Living.
The exhibition ran from 10am until 6pm and was an opportunity to provide information about our specialist services directly to young people with additional needs who are within the transition period (aged 14 to 25). During the course of the day, Tracy and Jo had the opportunity to network with other providers, social services and safeguarding professionals, and to speak with students, teachers, supporters and families, offering information about our specialist residential services for individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs. There was an also an opportunity for conference attendees to view our fully Widgit integrated website on an iPad, which proved very popular.
Tracy said, "We had a great day at the Choice Unlimited event; we got to speak directly to a wide range of stakeholders and to network with all sorts of different people; the iPad proved a great addition to our display and meant that we could show pictures of the different services - it gave people a real feel for what we do. We'll be back next year!"
Jo added, "It was a great day - we handed out over a hundred brochures and gathered a lot of information ourselves that will be useful for the people we support. We have since received a referral from one of the people we spoke to on the day, so that's a fantastic outcome."
