Two-wheel triumph for Jed

Jed 1

Keen cyclist and staff member at Heathcotes Wakefield, Jed Fisher, recently donned his lycras and helmet to join a team of 8 locals to raise money for the stroke ward at Yorkshire's Pinderfields Hospital.  On Sunday 18 August - backed up by van support from Heathcotes Support Worker, Lynn Spellman - the group of fundraising cyclists set off from the Yorkshire market town of Wetherby and in the blazing summer sunshine, set off on the exhausting 73 mile journey.  An impressive 6 hours and 20 minutes later, the somewhat tired, hungry and warm team safely reached their destination of Scarborough, on the Yorkshire coast.

Jed says, 'We all trained really hard for the ride - cycling over 70 miles was a daunting prospect, but we were all up for the challenge to raise much-needed funds for such a worthy cause.  The fantastic morale and team spirit kept us going through the physical and mental fatigue on the day!   I lost my father to a stroke and wanted to do this for him; I am very proud to say that we've so far raised a massive £1,245 and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who sponsored us or made a donation'.

Well done to Jed and the Wakefield Wheelies!
