Trip down memory lane for birthday boy Roy
With his recent milestone birthday, Roy who lives at Heathcotes Blythe Bridge chose to celebrate turning 70 in the time honoured fashion - with a pint down the pub! Accompanied by home manager, Ann Plant and Heathcotes support staff, Roy took a trip to The Railway, the pub he used to drink in many years ago. Feeling peckish, Roy tucked into some pub grub, enjoying a birthday meal of sausage, egg, chips and peas, complete with lashings of tomato ketchup! Fed and watered, and after a traditional toast to the guest of honour, Ann and Roy went for a wander around the town, stopping off at Roy's old home and workplace, followed by a visit to the Churnet Valley Heritage Railway
Ann says, 'Roy had a thoroughly good time and enjoyed every minute of his special day, and I have to admit, so did I! It was lovely for Roy to be able to revisit places from his past and I was honoured that Roy was able to share memories of his life. I'm glad that we were able to mark such a special occasion in such a memorable way'.
