Blackburn give it some OOMPH!
Service users at Heathcotes Blackburn have been getting active this week, with a visit from OOMPH (Our Organisation Makes People Happy). OOMPH provide fun exercise classes for people in residential care homes with a range of interactive programmes to get people moving, aiming to make them happier and healthier. At the core of all of OOMPH's activity programmes is the aim to improve people's well being, mental and physical health, energy levels, positivity and enthusiasm for life.
People at Heathcotes Blackburn really got into the spirit of things, enjoying some gentle exercise to help improve mobility, flexibility and co-ordination. With some musical motivation and an abundance of pompoms, service users, support staff and home manager, Amanda Dean enjoyed working up a sweat and moving to the beats!
Amanda said, 'It's great to see everybody getting up and moving. Exercise obviously has many health benefits, but it can be quite dull, so the fact that these sessions are so much fun is a great motivator! Everyone has enjoyed it so much that the OOMPH programme will become a regular activity at the home'.
