College Success for Perla

Perla lives at Heathcotes Whitley.  Soon after moving to Whitley, Perla expressed a wish to pursue further education.  Perla was supported through the application process to attend Goole College by Heathcotes Whitley staff.  Following a successful interview, Perla was accepted to study on the Entry Level 3, Independant Living Skills course.  Perla now attends college 3 days a week, supported by Heathcotes Whitley and college staff.  The course aims to equip the students with daily living skills, as well as teaching maths, English, IT, gardening; the course also provides the opportunity for students to complete a Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Perla's efforts and dedication to her studies have been recently recognised, after she received 'The Most Improved Student of the Term' award.

Gemma Hollingsworth, Home Manager said, 'Perla is working really hard at college to achieve her goals and is really enjoying it.  It's great to see her learning new skills and growing in confidence too'.
