Mental Health Awareness is high on the agenda

29th Jan 2014

Following the development of our new mental health services in Nottinghamshire, staff from Heathcotes Mapperley Lodge, Carrington Park, Basford and Mansfield have recently signed up for the Level 2 Certificate in 'Understanding Working in Mental Health', at St George’s Centre in Netherfield.

Working in partnership with Rotherham College of Arts and Technology, Heathcotes Learning commissioned this training as part of a programme of blended and tutor-delivered learning to increase staff awareness of mental health issues.  New starters with Heathcotes all receive Mental Health Awareness training as standard; this forms part of their Skills for Care based induction week, with additional subject related material to be completed before their induction period is completed.

Currently we are supporting a cohort of over 45 learners to complete this 12-week programme.

Enthusiasm was high in the Netherfield group who started the course this week.  “The training we get at Heathcotes is the best I’ve ever received” said one learner; another remarked “This training has done so much to boost my confidence and help me gain a better insight and understanding of the job I do”.
