A recent social media-led campaign has seen women all over the world taking 'no make-up selfies' in a bid to raise awareness of cancer and raise money for a range of cancer charities.  The online craze has seen popular social media sites Facebook and Twitter inundated over recent days with pictures of bare-faced beauties, posted by women showing their support to the cause.  Contributors are encouraged post a picture of their make-up free face, make a donation to a cancer charity of their choice and then 'nominate' friends to do the same.

Whilst it is not entirely clear where the trend originated, cancer charities across the UK are confirming an unprecedented increase in donations which they are attributing to the online campaign.  Cancer Research UK have confirmed £8 million worth of donations in just over a week, with the Breast Cancer Campaign confirming they have raised £70,000 so far.

To show your support to the campaign, you can upload your naked face pictures to Twitter with the hashtag #nomakeupselfie, or on Facebook; a number of charities have also set up their own online galleries including www.breakthrough.org. There are also numerous ways to donate, including texting 'BEAT' to 70007, 'PINK' to 70300 or online via a number of cancer charities own websites including www.breastcancercare.org.uk  and www.breakthrough.org.uk, or of course by contacting the charity of your choice directly.

With a number of celebrities and public figures getting involved, a group of Heathcotes' very own have also lent their support to the cause!  Heathcotes Managers, Veena Barot of Heathcotes Glenfield, Gemma Hollingsworth of Heathcotes Whitley and Joanne Coe of Heathcotes Bridlington, have all dared to bare, along with Head Office staff, Operations Co-ordinator, Kathie Paltridge, Learning & Development Administrator,Tracey Crabtree and Business Services Administrator, Beth Saunders!
