Jamie Competes for the Commonwealth
This year sees the Commonwealth Games arrive in Glasgow and excitement is already building for the event. The Games start on the 23 July 2014 and hopefuls must go through rigorous qualification rounds to qualify to compete in their chosen sport.
Heathcotes Aylestone is proud to report that Jamie, who is a support worker at the service, will be taking part in the Shot Put qualification rounds on 8 June 2014! Jamie has been competing in Shot Put for over 12 years and his dedication to the sport has given him the opportunity to take part in the qualification rounds, which will hopefully see him successfully go on to compete in the Commonwealth Games 2014.
A tough training schedule means Jamie attends training five times a week at Loughborough University to ensure he stays in his best form and at the top of his game. Jamie's main focus is strength specific and technical training. The qualification round will consist of several competitions requiring Jamie to throw over a certain distance - if Jamie gets through each stage, we will be cheering him on as an official competitor in the games at Glasgow!
Jamie's journey to the Commonwealth Games is not an easy one; Jamie requires sponsors to help him along the way. If you or somebody you know would be able to help Jamie with sponsorship, please get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will pass your details onto Jamie.
Good luck Jamie from all at Heathcotes; we wish you every success!
