We are delighted to bring to you today the first subject of June's dedicated Employee Focus Month - Tyla Walker.  Tyla is fairly new in post as Trainee Home Manager at Heathcotes Basford.  Here is Tyla's story, in her own words:

"I have worked in the care sector since 2010 when I began as a support worker for adults with autism, challenging behaviour and complex needs. I then decided I wanted to develop my career further within the health and social care sector and in 2013 I joined Heathcotes as a support worker, which I found very rewarding and fulfilling. I am passionate about delivering highly person centred care and support, and a few months later I achieved the role of team leader at one our brand new services, Heathcotes Basford, and quickly progressed to trainee home manager.  I am aiming to become registered in the next few months. I am thoroughly enjoying working in a brand new mental health setting and gaining more experience and knowledge in areas of health and social care I have previously been unfamiliar with, and I am wholly embracing my new challenge. When I am not working I enjoy spending my free time with family and friends, socialising and relaxing."

"I am genuinely dedicated to my work as I also spend a lot of time supporting one of my family members who has autism, challenging behaviour and complex needs and this has helped me develop a better understanding of the care services structure and motivated me further to achieve high standards that I would expect to see in my own personal experiences."

Tomorrow's Employee Focus spotlight will fall on Levi Wright, Support Worker at Heathcotes Aylestone.  Check back in daily to meet more of the staff delivering our services and get to know the people behind the care.
