New Starters Ready for Christmas

18th Dec 2014

Learners seen here on the final day of their Heathcotes Induction Bloc with Learning & Development Officer Chev Douglas.  As part of their induction new starters take part in two days of NAPPI training delivered by our qualified staff.  The NAPPI model emphasises a person centred and psychological based approach to supporting people with complex needs, with physical intervention as a last resort to ensure that all are kept safe.  The success of this approach has been seen by the significant reduction of reported interventions by Heathcotes in the last two years.

One of the learners Julia, who will be starting shortly at our Mapperley Lodge service says, "I've been on many courses in my life but this week has been one of the best.  Working with enthusiastic and knowledgeable trainers.  I've had fun and learned a lot at the same time.  I can't wait to start working in the Mapperley service now".
