Knollbeck enjoy Elsecar

20th Jan 2015

Service users and supporters from Heathcotes Knollbeck recently enjoyed a day out to Elsecar Heritage Centre.

The centre is located in the former ironworks and colliery workshops of Earl Fitzwilliam, in the conservation village of Elsecar near Barnsley, Yorkshire.  It boasts many activities, events and exhibitions, but one of the day's highlights was most definitely a trip to the Elsecar Heritage Steam Railway.  Everyone enjoyed a ride on the train and talking to the drivers, as well as borrowing the drivers' hat for a fun photo memento!

The group also came face-to-beak with some owls during a display of the handsome birds, with a lucky few even getting to handle the animals, which certainly brought rise to a smile or two!

Team Leader Jodie said, 'Elsecar was a fantastic day out.  There was so much to see and do, and there were some brilliant memories made.  We are already looking forward to planning our next day out!'.
