Positive CQC Inspection for Heathcotes Norton, Sheffield

We are very pleased to announce that Heathcotes Norton in Sheffield has received a positive CQC inspection report. Inspectors made an unannounced visit in December 2015 and reported that there is a ‘positive and inclusive culture’ at the service and rated the service as ‘Good’.

 

The report highlighted that the Manager has a hands-on approach and has a detailed understanding of people’s needs. A family member added, “I speak with Craig (The Manager) every day and he is smashing. I have no worries at all.” Another relative reported that, “{Service User name} has lived in a few homes before this one but he has come on in leaps and bounds since moving here. He likes the staff and he can ring me any time so I have no worries. The staff do all they can for him”.

 

Support plans showed that a variety of social opportunities were provided to people. The inspectors saw and noted that each person has their own activity planner which detailed activities they have chosen so staff could accommodate and support them with these. One service user commented, “The staff know me a lot and they are a good support. They help me and I can go anywhere, the cinema, bowling, swimming; I like it all”. The inspectors said, “We observed a member of staff very patiently talking with a person and repeating reassurances so that the person felt involved. The person clearly enjoyed staff company and shared laughter could be heard.”

 

The inspectors also noted that staff worked well as a team and were happy with the training and support they received. One staff member said, “I feel well supported here and I think we make a difference. I love it; I think we’re a good team.”

 

Craig Lister, Service Manager, said, “I am really pleased that Heathcotes Norton has been awarded ‘Good’ by our regulator, the Care Quality Commission. The positive comments are very motivating and it is great to hear that service users and their families are happy.  The team at Heathcotes Norton have worked really hard and we are now striving to achieve an ‘Outstanding’ rating at our next inspection.”
