Service users and staff at Heathcotes Woodborough in Nottinghamshire have commenced their fitness session programme this week. The service, which provides residential accommodation for service users with a mental illness, hosted the first of its planned fitness sessions in the large communal lounge and invited other service users from other local service to join them.

This week’s workout, which is part of a wider healthy living strategy, featured Davina McCall’s fitness DVD and the session was concluded with fresh fruit salad and juice drinks. There is Zumba planned for the next gathering as well as a smoothie tasting session. Service users who complete four consecutive sessions will receive a certificate of participation.

Sarah Lycett, Service Manager, said, “It was great to see so many staff and service users taking part and I am really proud of the efforts made, not only by Heathcotes Woodborough staff, but by everyone from the surrounding area. The support and encouragement was fantastic. We are encouraging service users to adopt healthy lifestyle habits and these sessions really help to promote that.”
