New Personality Disorder Treatment Service NOW OPEN!
We are delighted to announce that following many months of hard work, our brand new purpose-built Personality Disorder Treatment Service in Nottingham is NOW OPEN!
Heathcotes Moorgreen is a specialist treatment centre that supports eight individuals with emotionally unstable personality disorder, who may also have a mild learning disability. Admissions to the service are time limited, for a period of 12 months. During this time, individuals will undergo two six month cycles of DBT therapy. The aim is, following successful completion of treatment, individuals will move onto a more independent setting.
The service is overseen by Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Dr Peter Burbidge, who provides the full Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) programme. DBT is a multi-modal treatment consisting of weekly skills groups, weekly individual therapy, skills coaching between sessions, weekly peer supervision for the therapist and an element of structuring the environment to support the learning and using of the skills. The service aims to:
- Reduce lift threatening behaviours
- Reduce behaviours that have a negative impact or could lead to a placement breakdown
- Reduce hospital admissions
- Improve quality of life through the development of meaningful relationship, increased independence and meaningful activities
- Encourage individual goals and aspirations
