Heathcotes launches first service for Children with Learning Disabilities
The latest addition to the Heathcotes Group, Heathcotes Brendon House, will be opening its doors, in Chesterfield, in June. This will be our first move into the Children’s service sector, which we are really excited about! We decided to expand our portfolio into children’s services as we feel it is important to offer the full care pathway the individuals we support. The service will be 7 beds for children and young people with a learning disability and other complex needs aged between 7-19.
Not all children and young people can live with their own families, or perhaps not all of the time. Our service will provide a ‘family’ style of living and will provide a stable and supportive environment. It will be a warm and homely atmosphere offering children and young people the opportunity to enhance their life experiences with a variety of activities.
We will support our children and young people to grow physically, emotionally, socially, educationally and spiritually. Each child is unique, so to achieve the best possible outcome, we will work in partnership with the child’s families, relatives, carers and social workers.
Where young people are getting ready to leave our care, and they are not quite ready to live independently, we can offer a transition to our adult services- which have been established for 11 years. This transition will be a pathway to independence which will enable the individuals to gain the relevant knowledge, experience and develop the necessary skills to achieve the overall outcome of living in a more independent environment.
Heathcotes Brendon House will provide medium to long term care however short term placements can also be considered on a needs match basis. If you would like to discuss this service, or any other, please contact our Commissioning Team- 01246556453.
