Wembley visit brings a great result all-round!
Last week the England football team qualified for the 2018 World Cup with a 1-0 home win over Slovenia and we know that one Heathcotes service user celebrated the result more than most!
WM, who lives in our Balby service near Doncaster, is a lifelong football fan. He is extremely passionate about the game and watches it on television as often as possible. A televised match can be exciting, but nothing beats watching a big game live, especially when it’s at Wembley, the home of football. With that in mind, Heathcotes surprised WM to a day out and arranged for him to watch England v Slovenia in the iconic stadium. It was certainly a tense contest with striker Harry Kane scoring the winning goal in injury time to confirm World Cup qualification.
Accompanied by Heathcote's support workers, Richard Dowle and Liam Rogers, WM had the time of his life and enjoyed every moment. It was only the second time he has attended a live match and the first occasion was a long time ago - many years before Harry Kane was even born! It certainly proved to be a winning experience all-round.
The day was a great example of Heathcotes supporting our residents to engage in meaningful activities to promote social inclusion. Well done to all at Balby who supported WM - we hope WM had a great day!
