Heathcotes canal trip really floated RH’s boat!

19th Oct 2017

Heathcotes will always do whatever we can to support our residents to engage in meaningful activities and promote social inclusion. We like to give them the opportunity to enjoy new experiences and find out what really floats their boat.

A recent day out for RH, a service user at Heathcotes Alverthorpe, is one such example. RH had been communicating to staff that he would like to travel on a boat. We decided to plan an excursion to Leeds and arranged a barge trip along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal which winds through the heart of the city. RH was certainly on-board with the idea and he joined our support staff for a cruise along the waterway, taking in the sights and sounds from a fantastic vantage point.

RH loved every minute of his voyage of discovery. It may have been a narrowboat, but it certainly broadened his horizons!
