Holly the pony is the mane attraction at Hucknall

1st Nov 2017

On Halloween you might expect all manner of fearsome beasts to appear at your door, but this year Heathcotes Hucknall welcomed a creature that was altogether friendlier than your average werewolf or black cat.

Holly the pony trotted by to visit our service users and she certainly proved to be the mane attraction. She was brought over by Clip Clop Pony Rides, a specialist company that provides a range of services including therapy ponies to visit residential care facilities. This hands-on experience created a truly memorable day for everyone.

Lauren Brown, Service Manager at Hucknall, commented on Holly's appearance:

“Health professionals have reported that psychological benefits can be gained from working with horses and ponies, especially for those individuals with learning difficulties, mental health needs and autism. We thought a pony visit would be a fantastic experience for our services users so we spoke to Clip Clop Pony Rides about arranging one. They were very professional and made sure a risk assessment was carried out prior to the visit. Holly was a charming and impeccably behaved guest - our service users and staff absolutely loved her!”
