Jingle bellyfuls for Heathcotes Kirklands!
Heathcotes Kirklands headed out to a local eatery this week to celebrate the festive season with a belt-busting carvery!
Kirklands staff traditionally receive gifts in the lead-up to Christmas in recognition of their efforts over the preceding 12 months. However, this year the staff decided they would rather go for a bite to eat with their service users and the generous platefuls on offer at the carvery made the choice of venue an easy decision! Employee of the Year was announced prior to leaving for the meal and this year’s joint winners were Rob Garton and Amanda Oats.
Service Manager, Ricky Farnhill, felt the occasion was rewarding for everyone involved:
“As well as being a chance for staff to reflect on their year and recognise each other’s positive qualities, the day was a very positive social experience for the service users. It was a big step for them to go out and eat in an environment that was not only busy but also unfamiliar. They embraced the opportunity and it was a great achievement. On their return, they were all very quiet due to some rather full bellies! However, they gave some very positive feedback and all of our residents said they had a good time.
The fact that the staff chose to go out for a meal with the people they care for, rather than receive a gift, speaks volumes about the type of people we have here at Heathcotes. I think it’s amazing and shows their caring nature. It’s typical of the way the staff have approached their support roles all year.”
