Heathcotes Balby have been carrying out some good work to support the Rucksack Project, a voluntary movement in Barnsley which helps those that are sleeping rough, or in desperate need, through the cold winter months.

The Rucksack Project revolves around a simple but compassionate task. It’s not about grand gestures and it’s not about donating lots of money or making a big commitment. It’s about giving up a little of your time, the odd old or unused belonging, to help somebody who has fallen on hard times and then encouraging others to do the same. The concept is simple – get a rucksack and fill it with some items that will help to make life a little more comfortable for someone who is sleeping rough this winter.

Staff at Heathcotes Balby donated items and service user AK volunteered to deliver the items. AK really enjoyed being part of the effort and Heathcotes Knollbeck also kindly donated sleeping bags for the project, which was hugely helpful for the people involved.
