Service managers get together for training day
Heathcotes Group welcomed 42 managers from services nationwide to take part in a training day as part of the company’s wider commitment to supporting the professional development of our staff.
Head of Heathcotes Services Northern, Gemma Hollingsworth, delivered management training at our training venue to help service managers to increase their understanding of the company’s internal procedures and find out more about tools available to support them in their role. With over 12 years’ experience in a variety of settings, including secure services in the independent sector, Gemma offered plenty of insight on performance management and focused on how managers can supervise and support the people in their team to the benefit of staff and service users.
Gemma’s direct experience of service management at Heathcotes was an invaluable resource for everyone who attended. She joined us in 2010 as a Team Leader at one of our Bridlington services and progressed to Service Manager at our Whitley services before accepting a regional post for Yorkshire. In 2017 Gemma was promoted again to the position of Head of Service and she now spends much of her time working from different Heathcotes services across the UK.
Gemma commented on a highly successful day:
“Heathcotes Group invest in the support of our staff as much as we invest in the support of our service users – the two commitments are, of course, closely related. The primary aim of the training programme was to ensure that managers are consistently supporting their teams and managing any issues in accordance with Heathcotes’ own procedures. It was also a welcome opportunity for many of our service managers to come to together and share their thoughts and experiences. Managers from services as far-reaching as London and Yorkshire travelled here to take part in the course.”
