What a jingle belly-full!
When most people imagine Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, they tend to think of the usual fare - roast turkey with stuffing, pigs in blankets and sprouts. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but this year Heathcotes Lutterworth decided to do things differently in planning the festive feast for their Christmas party. Staff and service users came up with a monumental menu and really pushed the (gravy) boat out with a seasonal spread full of leftfield choices. It bypassed the traditional dishes but still provided everyone with a customary Christmas bellyful!
The mouth-watering banquet included 18-hour pulled pork cobs, lentil and veg curry, Mac 'n' Can, jerk chicken thighs, lemon pepper chicken legs, roast gammon, coleslaw, Greek salad and enough party food to feed an army of hungry elves. They did concede a nod to tradition with turkey on the menu, but it was served with a twist in the form of turkey chilli con carne!
Connor Greaves, Services Manager at Heathcotes Lutterworth, commented on the day:
“The party was a massive success and it was great to welcome so many staff, service users and families from all of our Leicester services. Many parents attended the party and everyone really enjoyed themselves. A special mention has to go to our Support Workers, Ahren and Sarah, who cooked all the amazing food – it was a momentous effort! Well done guys!”
