Brendon House is situated in Chesterfield.  Brendon House has excellent transport links with a bus station located outside the property with regular links into Chesterfield Town.

Brendon House is a large five bed service for Children and Young People aged 8-18 who may have learning disabilities, emotional behavioural difficulties and challenging behaviours. Internally, there are two lounges allowing opportunities for alternate activities; one for relaxation, the other for engaging activities such as arts and crafts and homework. There are ground floor ensuite rooms available along with en suite bedrooms situated upstairs. In addition to this there are two large communal bathrooms, laundry room, team leader office for support and supervision during the evenings and large open planned sensory “chill” room. Brendon House ethos is led through the management team and based around a family feel home, through emotional warmth, structured routines and appropriate boundaries. Children are supported through high levels of supervision, encouraged to engage in the wider community including clubs, delivered through an excellently trained practice team to help Children engage and achieve their personal aspirations.

Brendon House incorporates a sensory area within the property located in the “chill room”, which is aimed at stimulus engagement and overall de-escalation strategies and techniques – should the children feel unable to express their feelings and emotions through verbal channels. A sensory aspect is available in the large enclosed rear garden, thus allowing the Children to flourish with the appropriate sensory incorporations.

All Brendon House practice team members are NAPPI (Non-Abusive Physical and Psychological Interventions) trained and use the NAPPI red and green scale to maintain a positive influence on each Child, with a view to minimising the level and frequency of challenging behaviour.  Children may have spent long periods of time in a hospital setting or may have additional complex needs including sensory impairments and communication difficulties.

Brendon House is located 100 yards from a large park and playing field, there are local shops within a few minutes of the home and excellent transport links into Chesterfield, around 10 minutes away.  Various historic monuments can be seen amongst large open-air markets, shopping and restaurants in the town centre along with sporting clubs such as Chesterfield Rugby team, Hollywood Bowl and cinemas for weekend activities
